Marine Air Conditioning – Pleasure boats and Superyachts

Dometic / Cruisair - Marine Air Conditioning Systems for Pleasure Boats and Superyachts

Freezetec is the authorized Dometic Cruisair marine air conditioning sales and service dealer for Brisbane and surrounds.

Whatever type of boat you own, you deserve the unbeatable comfort and luxury of a Cruisair climate system. Cruisair was a pioneer of air conditioning systems for pleasure boats in the 1960’s and now, as part of the Dometic Group, the Cruisair brand continues to represent innovative new products in the marketplace.

Cruisair have been world leaders in marine air conditioning for over 40 years with a worldwide service dealer network second to none.

Dometic Cruisair has a range of air conditioning units to suit all needs and includes the following:

Self Contained Air Conditioning Systems

For Smaller Boats Up to 12 Meters (40 Feet)

Self-contained units are typically the best choice for smaller boats up to about 12 meters (40 feet) due to the lower cost of the units and installation.

The most popular series is the Cruisair Stowaway Turbo.

The DTU turbo series has a range from 6,000BTU to suit a small cabin, up to the 16,000BTU unit for an average saloon area. The larger DCU series consists of a 18,000BTU and an 27,000BTU unit, which would be suitable for a larger area.

The engineers at Freezetec can determine the correct size unit for your vessel. Contact us for more information.

Split Air Conditioning Systems

For Boats Up to 24 Meters (80 Feet)

Split air conditioning systems have the condensing unit and air handler installed in different locations.

  • The condensing unit is mounted in the engine room or other mechanical space.
  • The air handler (also called the evaporator) is installed in the living area. Two air handlers can connect to one condensing unit.

The most popular series is the Emerald.

Tempered Water Air Conditioning Systems

For Large Boats and SuperYachts

Cruisair tempered water air conditioning systems (also called chilled water) consist of a chiller, located in the engine room or machinery space. The chiller unit cools (or heats) fresh water, then pumps it through an insulated piping loop to air handlers located in the living spaces, where the air is cooled (or heated).

A variety of air handlers are available to suit your needs.

The most popular series are the TWCX Compact and the MTD modular Chillers.

Choosing an air conditioning system for your boat

  1. Determine the approximate BTU’s required for your vessel:
    1. Standard Usage (Temperate Zones)
Below Deck: – Length x Width x Average Height in Feet x 9 BTU
Middle Deck: – Length x Width x Average Height in Feet x 14 BTU
Top Deck: – Length x Width x Average Height in Feet x 17 BTU
    2. High Temperature Applications (Tropical Zones)
Below Deck: – Length x Width x Average Height in Feet x 14 BTU
Middle Deck: – Length x Width x Average Height in Feet x 17 BTU
Top Deck: – Length x Width x Average Height in Feet x 23 BTU
  2. How To Determine Approximate Generator Size
    (Amp Load x Volts x 2) = Approx KVA
    1000
